About This Event

  • Event Type:Community Health Education
  • Event Capacity:400
Details:

Marshall is proud to present "On Two Fronts," a no-cost dementia healthcare and home support symposium.

*Valet services will be available.

*Please note: If you need someone to take care of your loved one in order to participate, respite may be available. Please request it no later than August 30, 2024 by calling Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center directly at 916-728-9333.

Hosted at no cost, and in partnership with Snowline Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, El Dorado County's Area Agency on Aging, and the Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, the event promises hope, respite, and education for our community's residents.

Join us for a day of learning with national experts, break out classes, and a resource fair with more than 20 area dementia services/vendors to help you prepare for life's eventualities.

Dr. Shawn Kile, a leading neurologist focusing on dementia research and treatment from Sacramento, will begin our time together by shining light on the clinical caregiver’s point of view.

Following Dr. Kile's presentation, we will offer several breakout classes, each with information designed to help you through your dementia care journey. This will be followed by a complimentary lunch, during which our staff will be on hand to answer your questions.

After lunch, Laura Wayman, "the dementia whisperer," will guide us through the expectations and realities of the home caregiver, helping connect our hearts with the loved ones' needs and concerns.  Laura's book, A Loving Approach to Dementia Care, is available online and she will have copies available at the event. A second round of valuable breakout classes, with new all new topics, will round out the day. This event is presented in collaboration with the Marshall Foundation for Community Health, and is made possible by a generous donor seeking to provide education and resources to those with loved ones facing dementia.
