HCAHPS Data
Hospitals differ in the quality of care and services they provide to patients. HCAHPS star ratings provide a snapshot of the 11 measures of patient experience of care on Hospital Compare. In addition, the HCAHPS summary star rating combines all 11 HCAHPS star ratings into a single, comprehensive metric. Click here to view Marshall's results.
Infection Control
According to the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality, a division of US Department of Health and Human Services, there's been a tremendous decrease in Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) the first part of the decade, a 17% decrease to 121 per thousand patient days. To put Marshall in comparison, over just the last two and a half years we have decreased 34%, going from an annual cumulative rate of 3.8 per thousand patient days to 2.5 per thousand patient days, significantly lower than the nationwide average. This is amazing work by our environmental services, nursing, clinical staff and providers to accomplish this drastic decrease in HAIs for our patients.
Nationally Recognized Stroke Care
Marshall’s stroke team is nationally recognized as a 5-star facility by hospital consumer ratings organizations. In order to be certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, we must have in place specific, time-sensitive guidelines and processes for treatment of possible stroke patients and pass an intense survey by Joint Commission inspectors. Marshall earned certification in 2013 before repeating the honor – which the Joint Commission awards every other year. We take a great deal of care to ensure all our processes meet or exceed requirements for care.
Quality Transparency Dashboard
To better track and provide transparency on our patient data, Marshall is posting the following dashboard provided by the Patient Safety Movement, Hospital Quality Institute and the California Hospital Association. Our goal is to pursue and achieve patient safety for all.
