About Us

Marshall is deeply rooted in community, quality care, compassion, and convenience.

For generations, Marshall has stood as a beacon of compassion and connection in our area's rich history. From our humble beginnings to our present-day healthcare system, we've been steadfast in our commitment to serving the people of this community. Since opening our doors in 1959, Marshall has been proud to maintain our status as an independent healthcare system whose governance remains local. Our mission is to improve the health of our community and offer health services of superior value and quality, centered on the goals and needs of our patients. We strive to deliver service that exceeds our patients’ expectations.

Nestled amidst the serene landscape of the Sierra Foothills, Marshall offers more than just medical services; we provide a sanctuary where the stresses of life's challenges are eased by the warmth and empathy of our dedicated team. We pride ourselves on understanding the pulse of this community like no other, owing to our deep-seated roots and shared experiences within El Dorado County.

As a locally focused non-profit healthcare institution, our paramount mission is the well-being of our neighbors. We don't just treat patients; we build tailored care solutions around each individual, ensuring their needs are met not just in the moment, but well into the future.

Our commitment to elevating community health extends beyond the walls of our facilities. Through strategic partnerships with community-based organizations, we ensure that resources and support are readily accessible to all. Whether it's pioneering cancer care through our esteemed partnership with UC Davis or spearheading initiatives to support the county's most vulnerable, we're dedicated to delivering excellence in healthcare.

At Marshall, excellence isn't just a goal; it's our standard. We're honored to be recognized as a top-tier hospital in California, but we don't rest on accolades. Our focus remains unwaveringly fixed on delivering unparalleled care to the people we serve. Marshall’s Emergency Department is a verified Level III Trauma Center, and our Stroke Program is not only distinguished as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission but also earned a Gold–Plus designation from the American Heart/American Stroke Association. Marshall’s Birth Center was also designated by the World Health Organization and UNICEF as a Baby Friendly® certified facility for breastfeeding advocacy.

Our team, comprised of passionate professionals, is driven by a shared commitment to our patients' well-being. Together, we navigate the complexities of healthcare with empathy, expertise, and unwavering dedication. Marshall also has a dedicated group of Auxiliary members, adult and junior volunteers that lend their support.

With locations strategically positioned throughout El Dorado County, including our newest addition in El Dorado Hills, we ensure that quality care is always within reach. Whether you're in the bustling suburban centers or tranquil rural landscapes, Marshall is there, ready to serve. Marshall includes Marshall Hospital, a fully accredited acute care facility with 111 beds located in Placerville; several outpatient facilities in Cameron Park, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, and Georgetown; primary and specialty care clinics, more than 190 affiliated physicians and providers, as well as a team of more than 1,600 employees providing quality healthcare services to residents of El Dorado County.
